Vegan Chocolate Mousse Cups
As the holidays roll around each year I am always coming up with new dessert recipes for my family and friends holiday get-togethers, this year is no different. I like to think out of the box and not stick to the usual calorie ridden desserts. This year I decided to make Vegan Chocolate Mousse Cups and boy am I glad I did, I mean who doesn’t love chocolate without a billion added calories!? I decided to do a test run on a few family members and friends during Diwali beforehand and they were a HIT! I made them Vegan because I wanted them to be eggless for a few family members yet still taste amazing and that’s exactly what I achieved! Happy Holidays! Hope you guys enjoy and be sure to tag #themommyspice on IG so that I can share your creations!
Spicy Southwestern Corn Salad
I love making this Spicy Southwestern Corn Salad all year round, it makes enough to feed plenty of people, which is always a plus and it can make a great side dish or appetizer if served with chips. If I’m feeling like something heavier then I just add cheese and melt it all up in the microwave! Itโs also great to put on tacos, quesadillas, or in enchiladas! I love it so much I add it to my mac and cheese sometimes(just omit the avocado) Super versatile and yummy! For those that like it spicy just add more jalapenos or habaneros as I do! Enjoy!
My Go-To Family Night Routine
Healthy Chicken Lettuce Wraps
I have been making these delicious and healthy chicken lettuce wraps for a couple of years now and my family absolutely loves them! I love the fact that they take less than 30 minutes to put on the table too! Make this recipe yours by adding or omitting ingredients to your liking. I have previously made these with tofu, ground turkey, pork and beef, choose whichever protein you like! I’ve eaten these at PF Chang’s and other Oriental restaurants but I wanted to come up with a recipe and put my own twist on it so here you have it. Enjoy!
Fool-Proof Khaman Dhokla
Khaman dhokla is a dish I make weekly at home without fail. For those of you who aren’t familiar with this dish it’s basically a savory steamed chickpea flour sponge cake tempered with spices. My whole family loves khaman so much so that I find myself having to make 6+ trays of them every time we have a family dinner or get together.ย In fact, every single time I visit my mom I make a whole batch because she absolutely loves my khaman and my mother is no easy critic to please! It’s super easy to make and the recipe I have come up with is practically fool-proof! You can even make it in the microwave to save time and clean up. Do try it and let me know what you think!
Soya Chunks Biryani
Lately, I have been posting a lot of meat dishes so today I decided that I would post a vegetarian recipe that will keep you coming back for more! My Soya Chunks Biryani is perfect for a weeknight dinner and if you do not want the soya chunks in the dish can be made without
Spicy Garlic Chutney-Lasanyu Marchu
Spicy Garlic Chutney or Lasanyu Marchu as we Gujaratis call it, is a MUST HAVE condiment in my household. It’s similar to Thecha Chutney from Maharastra but I will always prefer the Gujarati version. As far back as I can remember a jar of garlic chutney was always in our fridge. I put this in everything from dal, spreading it on my dosa to adding a dollop of it into my pav bhaji! In fact, give me some lasanyu marchu with roti and I’m set! Growing up my family would mix cream cheese and this chutney together, slather it on some Italian bread and bake it! The adults would enjoy it with their cuppa chai and we kids would eat it with milk! Yes! I was introduced to spicy food very early on in life! It’s such a versatile chutney that you won’t know how you’ve gone without it all your life! I’ve added a few notes at the end of the recipe to better help you as well!ย Do try it out and let me know what you think and don’t forget to tag me @themommyspice on Instagram if you do! I love seeing all of your creations!
Mexican Street Style Chicken Tacos
I’m so happy I got this post up just in time for Cinco De Mayo! If you follow me on social media, you know my love for Tacos runs DEEP! So much so that I make Mexican Style Street Tacos once a week for my family, no matter what! Eating these tacos always take me back to vacations in Mexico, walking the streets and finding stall after stall selling these amazing tacos! No advertising needed, I mean the smells just waft you towards them! I serve mine with Homemade Mexican Rice and Beans (authentic and super easy recipe coming soon). Go crazy and add any toppings you like, but onion, cilantro, and lime are authentic. You won’t find lettuce and cheese in your tacos when in Mexico! Enjoy Guys!
Indian Spiced Hashbrowns
Indian Spiced Hashbrowns are a Sunday MUST in my house! I mean come on, who doesn’t love Hashbrowns?ย It pleases even the pickiest eaters, including young children!ย I came up with the idea, to add Indian spices to the mix after regular hashbrowns started to become a bit boring. I love how the spices give the hashbrowns a bit of warmth and spice. I make a huge batch of these to last at least two to three days. I love them so much that I could eat them on their own without any eggs or accompaniments. Hope you guys enjoy them as much as my family and I do!
