Driving to Dutch Wonderland

Last weekend my family and I had the pleasure of visiting Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster, PA and we had a blast! It was Memorial Day weekend and even though the weather was not the best on our first day there but we still managed to have fun. We left New York at around 8:30 am and reached Lancaster by 11 am – it was raining cats and dogs but luckily after lunch, we were able to check into our hotel a little early. We freshened up and got ready to head to Dutch Wonderland.

Rain Rain Go Away!

By the time the rain had subsided, it was already 3 pm but I was determined to get a few hours of fun in at the park. Our hotel was right across from the park so we just walked there. Upon arrival, we were told that we could use our tickets as preview tickets which basically means if you arrive at the park after 3 pm you can enjoy it until it closes and visit the next day for a full day! We took advantage of that and even though we split our visit into two days we still got close to 7 hours of fun!

Let’s Have Some Fun!

Since the weather was abysmal and a bit chilly there were next to no lines for any of the rides and most of the rides were open. Some of our favorite rides were Turtle Whirl, Bumper Cars, and Merlins Mayhem! There truly is something for every age at the park but it’s definitely geared towards kids between 2-4 which was perfect for my 3-year-old son! When we wanted to give our feet a rest we got on the Sky Ride and Monorail which gave us amazing views of the whole park!

A Dragons Tale dive show

The park closes at 6:30 pm so we went back to our hotel and rested for the rest of the evening and geared up to head to the park the next morning when it opened at 10 am.  The next morning we were able to take J on Turnpike Cars, Space Shuttle, and his favorite The Merry Go Round! The Wonderland Special train ride was such a treat as well! My son’s absolute favorite thing at the park was watching A Dragon’s Tale show – a dive show that he still watches videos of every single day!

Unfortunately, due to weather conditions and time constraints, we were unable to go to Dutch Wonderland’s water park Duke’s Lagoon but it’s definitely on my must-go list for next time!

  1. Oh, this place looks so cute! I might have to take the trip out there it’s not that far from me, and I never knew it existed!

  2. Oh wow, no lines for the rides that is great. Normally you have to wait for ages. Hope you get to the water park next time.
