Live in the Lap of Luxury – Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao in Bangkok

We stayed at the Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao for 5 days and I loved every single minute of it! The hotel is located in Chatuchak an area in Bangkok that is close enough to the hustle and bustle of the city yet it’s far enough that the environment is much calmer. It is easily accessible by the train system and taxi. Beware the traffic is pretty bad even though it is a little further out of the center of Bangkok.

The Lobby

Here is a picture of the entrance/lobby of the hotel. It is absolutely exquisite. The check-in area is to the left after you enter and you will always hear a warm “Sawadee Kha or Sawadee Krap”(Hello in Thai, the latter for a male) from the greeters who open the door for you at the entrance. The elevators are directly behind the fountain of the lobby and they run incredibly fast! Fun fact: They were holding a Royal Birthday Party here when we were visiting! Now if only I could have been invited! Gosh I have never seen so many Rolls Royce’s in my life!

Our Room

My family and I stayed in a deluxe room for our stay and it was beautiful, extremely clean, you can tell housekeeping takes pride in their work. Our room was spacious and everything was well stocked including toiletries, and it remained that way for the duration of our stay……Thank god for turn down service!

Our room had a well- stocked mini bar as well as a fridge. The room had a desk which made it perfect for me to finish some work on my laptop. The internet ran at the speed of lightning as well. There is a coffee machine and plenty of tea or coffee for two people. We did run out a few times and all we had to do was call the front desk to have more delivered to our room. They also have cribs for babies that they provide, we saw that they placed one in our room when we arrived but ended up sending it back because J co-sleeps with my husband and me, and the bed was HUGE!

Pool

There is a pool that is perfect for families at the hotel. We were sightseeing most of the time so unfortunately only spend a limited amount of time here but J did love the little time he spent there!

Food

We ate breakfast at the Chatuchak Cafe every single morning and it was amazing to say the least! They have a huge selection of juices, omelet station, bread station, dumplings, and noodle bar amongst so many other choices. It is located on the same floor as the lobby and it also serves lunch as well as dinner. There are a few other high-end restaurants in the hotel but unfortunately, we didn’t get to try any of them this time around.

Bar- Blue Sky

There is a beautiful rooftop bar. It’s a great place to head up to at night after a day of sight seeing to unwind and enjoy the skyline. Due to having J with us we didn’t partake in this but a lot of the hotel guests we spoke to loved it!

Central Plaza Mall is located right next to the hotel (It is connected to the hotel) and it has a huge food court in the basement level as well as some sit-down restaurants on the top floor of the mall. Just like the rest of the malls in Bangkok, it is HUGE!

Chatuchak Mall

Chatuchak Weekend Market is located in the vicinity of the hotel and is a MUST see! There is a shuttle that will bring you to and from, just check with the front desk about timings. When I tell you it’s gigantic I am not exaggerating at all!

This 35-acre (68-rai) area of Chatuchak is home to more than 8,000 market stalls. On a typical weekend, more than 200,000 visitors come here to sift through the goods on offer. Veteran shoppers would agree that just about everything is on sale here, although not all at the best bargain rates. But, if you have one weekend in Bangkok, squeeze in a day trip to Chatuchak Weekend Market and you will not be disappointed. One thing to keep in mind is that this is an indoor market without any type of air conditioning. It gets VERY HOT and that isn’t an understatement. We decided to forgo it this time around due to the baby.

I was sad to say goodbye after such an amazing experience but alas all good things must come to an end. We will surely be back in no time!
