A Dream Family Adventure: Exploring the Caribbean on the Carnival Venezia

Embarking on a family vacation is always an exciting prospect, but when that journey involves a cruise to the Caribbean with stops in picturesque destinations like Turks & Caicos, Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic, and Carnival’s Private Island in the Bahamas, the anticipation reaches a whole new level of excitement. Join us as we recount the unforgettable experiences and cherished memories from our recent family trip on the Carnival Venezia Cruise.

Setting Sail: Aboard the Carnival Venezia

Our adventure began the moment we stepped foot on the Carnival Venezia, a magnificent ship that exudes luxury, comfort, and excitement. From the vibrant atmosphere of the onboard entertainment to the delectable dining options and spacious accommodations, every aspect of the Carnival Venezia exceeded our expectations, setting the stage for an incredible journey ahead.

Turks & Caicos: A Slice of Paradise

Our first port of call was the breathtaking island paradise of Turks & Caicos – Grand Turk. As we disembarked from the ship, we were greeted by the sight of pristine white sand beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and lush greenery stretching as far as the eye could see. From snorkeling adventures in the vibrant coral reefs to leisurely strolls along Grace Bay Beach, Turks & Caicos captivated us with its natural beauty and laid-back island charm. We found the beach close to the ship a bit rocky so we decided to head on over to Margaritaville right by the shops. The pool was packed but we found room by the swim-up bar pool(all the pools are connected) and had a great time. Finding loungers was difficult but we knew we weren’t going to be there for long so we just plopped our stuff down a bit far away from the pool. There are cabanas available for rent through Carnival and you can purchase drinks and food at Margaritaville. If you do purchase a cabana then waiter service is included but drinks and food are at your own expense. Outside of Margaritaville, there are a few shops with Mexican knick-knacks and a Starbucks for your coffee fix.

Amber Cove, Dominican Republic: Rich Culture and Adventure

Next on our itinerary was Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic, where we immersed ourselves in the rich culture and vibrant spirit of this enchanting destination. From exploring the historic streets of Puerto Plata to embarking on exhilarating zip line tours through the lush jungle canopy, Amber Cove offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure for the whole family to enjoy. There is a swim-up bar and pool(it gets pretty packed), the pools here are connected as well but you are sure to find a spot somewhere that isn’t too crowded. There is also a great splash pad for kids. I did see a few slides which were an extra cost and since we didn’t use them I cannot comment on the experience. You can also rent cabanas here through carnival and I did see a few areas blocked off for paying guests only. There is a cute restaurant and bar right off the main swim-up bar pool and we enjoyed a few snacks and a yummy Dominican beer there right before we went back on the ship.

Half Moon Cay: Paradise Found on Carnival’s Private Island

Our final port of call was Half Moon Cay, Carnival’s Private Island in the Bahamas, where we discovered a slice of paradise unlike any other. This is our absolute FAVORITE post so far. From the moment we stepped ashore, we were greeted by powdery white sand beaches, swaying palm trees, and crystal-clear waters teeming with colorful marine life. Whether we were indulging in a beachside barbecue, embarking on thrilling water sports adventures, or simply basking in the sun with a refreshing cocktail in hand, Half Moon Cay provided the perfect backdrop for relaxation and rejuvenation. You take a tender from the ship to the island and then you have the whole day to enjoy yourselves. Carnival does offer a complimentary buffet on the island for a few hours but make sure to get there early as the lines can get long. The buffet offered jerk chicken, hamburgers, rice, salad, and hot dogs when we went(see my plate below). There are bars where you can get your libations as well, I did also see a few waiters going around with drinks.  There are shell-covering sitting available and cabanas as well(through Carnival for an additional fee). Get there early to grab seats closest to where the tender picks you up or walk down the beach where there are plenty of seats and fewer people.

Conclusion: A Family Adventure to Remember

As our journey aboard the Carnival Venezia came to an end, we couldn’t help but feel a sense of gratitude for the incredible experiences and cherished memories we had shared as a family. From the breathtaking beauty of Turks & Caicos to the rich culture of Amber Cove and the tranquil paradise of Half Moon Cay, each destination left an indelible impression on our hearts and minds.

Our family trip on the Carnival Venezia Cruise was truly a dream come true, filled with laughter, adventure, and unforgettable moments that we will treasure for a lifetime. As we bid farewell to the Caribbean and set our sights on future adventures, we carry with us the memories of our time spent exploring this magical corner of the world aboard the Carnival Venezia.

Until next time, Caribbean dreams await!
