After the tumultuous year we’ve endured, a getaway was just what the doctor ordered. Escaping the hustle and bustle of Long Island, my family and I found solace in the tranquil beauty of Callicoon, NY, nestled in the heart of the Catskill Mountains. Our destination? The remarkable Villa Roma Resort, a haven of relaxation and recreation that exceeded our every expectation.

The Drive

The journey from Long Island to Villa Roma was a mere few hours, but the scenic route felt like a world away. As we wound through the mountains and took in the lush foliage, it was evident that we were embarking on a truly rejuvenating adventure.

If you’ve ever watched the iconic film “Dirty Dancing,” imagine that setting transported to the charming countryside of Italy, but with even more excitement and activities. Check-In

Check-in at Villa Roma was a breeze, with a seamless process that took only a few minutes. While the rocky terrain near the parking lot required a bit of caution, it was a minor inconvenience compared to the smooth check-in experience that awaited us.

 

Our Room

Our accommodations surpassed all expectations, providing ample space and comfort for our family of five. The two-room efficiency suite boasted two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a cozy sitting area, and a luxurious bathroom complete with a shower and separate tub. While the decor could use a bit of updating, the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms more than made up for any minor aesthetic concerns.

Activities

With an array of activities available throughout the day, boredom is simply not an option at Villa Roma. From fishing and live shows to kids’ crafts and more, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. While the resort offers all-inclusive amenities, some activities may require a nominal fee, but the sheer variety ensures that there’s always something new to experience.

Dining

The culinary delights at Villa Roma are nothing short of spectacular, with the Main Dining Room offering a delectable breakfast buffet and sumptuous four-course dinners. From mouthwatering crab cakes to savory Italian fare, every meal was a culinary masterpiece that left us craving more. The attentive staff, donning masks and adhering to safety protocols, ensured that every dining experience was both safe and enjoyable.
