Our Stay at Best Western Harrisburg North, PA

My family and my brother in laws family stayed at this hotel while visiting Hershey Park a few months ago(I have since stayed there twice in the winter for business) and it was perfect for us and myself. With 5 adults and 4 kids in between us, we were definitely looking for something that would accommodate all of us. We booked two rooms both with double beds. Here is an overview of our stay:

We got to the hotel to check-in around 5 on a Friday and the parking was pretty full in the front and sides but there was ample parking in the back. The hotel is located right off the highway which is extremely convenient. When you enter the main entrance the check-in desk is off to the right hand side. The only caveat I had about checking in was that it took a front desk agent 15 minutes to show up and check our family in. Other than that it was smooth sailing. For those who love their coffee and tea, they have self serve machines in the lobby free of charge. My first thought when entering the hotel was that it definitely looked renovated, come to find out it was completely renovated in May 2018. Off to our rooms we

Upon entering we were bombarded with extreme heat. We tried to get the air conditioner to work but failed. A quick call to the front desk and a half an hour later we were good to go. I couldn’t have J stifle in the heat now could I, I mean what kind of mom what I be ha! The room was pretty nice despite the outdated comforter. I was pleasantly surprised that the beds were super comfortable! There was a small desk with a chair and another reclining in the corner of the room. It came equipped with a television, fridge and small microwave. The fridge definitely helped keep snacks for the kids and their milk safe which is right-hand A+ in my book! Off to the bathroom we go!

Pretty standard, it was clean which if it wasn’t I would have been super disappointed, am I the only one who checks the bathroom first when I enter a hotel room? It was well stocked with towels, no foul odors and had a good amount of shampoo/conditioner etc. No complaints here. We were pretty tired from driving so we decided to call it a night after getting to the hotel. The kids fell asleep in the car so that was a godsend. Off to breakfast the next morning we go!

Breakfast

Food
Coffee, tea, oatmeal, bagels and pastries.

Looking straight at the breakfast buffet.

A continental breakfast is included in your stay and it didn’t disappoint. It was your standard fair of food(eggs, toast, juice, bacon, etc.) but it was kept stocked and everything was clean. I cannot for the life of me remember the breakfast timings but I believe they were from 6-10am. We ate at around 7 am. For families who are staying there just keep in mind that if you do not have young children there are NO high chairs provided. It was a bit of a nuisance trying to eat while holding J but hey we made it work! Off to the pool we go!

We rested up a bit and headed to the pool in the rear of the hotel. It’s a standard pool but there were lounge chairs and a few tables with umbrellas to keep us cool. The pool looked well maintained and clean. It was J’s first swimming experience! He thoroughly loved it! Check out my boy go!

My final thoughts on this hotel are positive. It’s only 15-twenty minutes away from Hershey Park. It is right off the highway. There are plenty of restaurants within a 5-10 minute drive and a Cracker Barrel within walking distance. There were plenty of other families staying there as well as a few singles and older couples. The kids had fun and so did we!

  1. Sounds like a great hotel and the accommodations looked great – looked like a fun trip and so glad you got to experience your babies first swim. Next time I travel I’ll consider this hotel if I’m in that area – Thanks for sharing!
