Ethos Chocolate

My New Go-To Chocolates and Their Astonishing Story!

Valentines Day

This post is sponsored by A Fresh Look but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

Ethos Chocolate, chocolate, come and get your CHOCOLATE! I jumped at the chance to work with Ethos Chocolates/Fresh Look because it is of utmost importance to me as a mother to know where my food comes from. These days its quite easy to just pick up an item at the store or order it online without knowing exactly where it came from or even where it has been.

A Fresh Look has created Ethos Chocolate, a brand of chocolate custom-made using GMO ingredients like beet sugar and fruit flavoring I mean how amazing is that! GMO farming innovations are seriously solving problems all over the world!

Month of Love

I remember when I first heard about GMO I honestly had no idea what it was, I heard it was a scary thing and to avoid it like the plague. I did my research for myself and boy was I wrong. Here’s a few fun facts:

  • Farming of GMO crops offers environmental benefits, including less water and fewer chemicals.
  • Farming of GMO crops will help our planet meet the food security challenges of a growing population and warming planet(which we all know is a huge issue!)
  • Scientific evidence overwhelmingly supports the safety of food produced from GMO farming.
  • GMO Farming produces crops that are as safe as any alternatives you can find, and provide exactly the same nutrient value.
  • Concerns about everything from allergies to cancer have been debunked. I think this was a huge one for many people, well guys now you know the truth instead of hearsay.
  • Can cut herbicide runoff into local waterways by 70 %. How many rivers, streams, and creeks have to be polluted after all?
  • GMO Farming methods have reduced the equivalent of nearly 500 billion pounds of carbon dioxide pollution from the air.

Misconceptions About GMO:

GMO’s aren’t a thing, but a breeding method: Nearly every crop grown today could be considered a GMO: People since the beginning of time have been selecting and cross-breeding crops to make them more useful for thousands of years. What was once the result of trial and error has now become more efficient, predictable and precise. At the end of the day, they’re no different than any other seeds, except they grow into crops that need less water, or naturally fend off invasive insects or benefit from any number of helpful adaptations. Are you guys seeing the benefits too?

Virtually every major scientific, medical and research institution around the world agrees that crops grown with GMOs are no more risky or less healthy than alternatives, from the World Health Organization and European Commission to the American Medical Association and National Academies of Science

Ethos Chocolate

I received four delicious flavors just in time for Valentine’s Day, all with their own backstory! I know it may sound funny but I actually felt good eating these chocolates! I loved sharing them with my husband and actually educating ourselves on GMO’s, something we knew very little about. Each packet of chocolate has it’s backΒ  story and that was something I found so unique! The tastes will truly blow you away, who knew that GMO farmers could bring us something that tastes so good? My husband and I have become believers and refuse to believe all the hype that’s around!

The Optimist (cacao)

  • People have savored the irreplaceable fruity-meets-earthy flavor of the cacao bean forever. But now, due to climate change and decayoing disease, the future of chocolate could be at risk. GMO farming can protect cacao trees like the ones in the Dominican Republic that made this very bar i’m devouring while writing this post! Chocolate is here to stay FOLKS. This one was by far my favorite flavor!

The Survivor (papaya)

  • The refreshing, subtly sweet taste of a ripe papaya mixed with rich, sultry chocolate made me feel as though I was back in Thailand. Did you know that a virus nearly wiped out Hawaii’s Rainbow papaya in the early 2000s? But GMOs gave them a fresh start, pulling papaya back from the brink of death. AMAZING!

The Hero (orange)

  • Lucious orange and smooth chocolate come together as one. One taste can turn around anyone’s day. But right now, our sunshine-packed Florida fruits need reviving themselves. Citrus greening disease, or yellow dragon disease, threatens the entire species. Luckily, oranges have a hero in their corner. But, GMO farmers could be close to getting rid of the beast and saving these citrus staples. SAVE THE ORANGES!

I think it is important to do your research regarding GMOs. They definitely have benefits, like helping crops grow in ares that are food insecure.

  7. I didn’t know about this brand. Love to see different names of chocolate. Good to know that ethos chocolates care for environment.
