Niagara Falls, a breathtaking natural wonder straddling the border of the United States and Canada, is more than just a tourist destination. It’s a captivating experience that leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to witness its majesty. As a family travel content creator, I recently embarked on a journey to Niagara Falls with my loved ones, and the enchanting memories we created will be cherished for a lifetime come and check out the highlights of our trip!
Getting There: Our family adventure began with the anticipation of crossing the border between the United States and Canada. Whether you fly into Buffalo Niagara International Airport or drive, the journey to Niagara Falls is as much a part of the experience as the destination itself. We drove 7 hours from Long Island and stayed on the New York side of the falls. We took the Rainbow Bridge over to the Canadian side twice during our stay and it was well worth it.
Where to Stay: Niagara Falls offers a range of family-friendly accommodations, from cozy hotels with stunning fall views to spacious vacation rentals. We opted for a budget hotel this time because we knew the only thing we would do in the room was sleep. It was a 10-minute drive to the falls and close to many restaurants. We stayed at The Best Western Summit Inn it was clean, and had an indoor pool and a small arcade for children. It also had a breakfast buffet included in your stay every morning.
Exploring Niagara Falls:
- Maid of the Mist: Our first adventure took us on the iconic Maid of the Mist boat tour. Decked out in our signature blue rain ponchos, we sailed up close to the thundering falls, feeling the mist on our faces and marveling at the raw power of nature.
- Journey Behind the Falls: Taking the elevator down to the observation deck, we ventured behind the curtain of water at Journey Behind the Falls. The sensation of standing behind the falls, with the thunderous roar surrounding us, was truly awe-inspiring.
- Niagara SkyWheel/Clifton Hill: For a different perspective, we hopped on the Niagara SkyWheel, a giant Ferris wheel offering breathtaking views of the falls and the surrounding landscape. It was a thrilling experience that the kids couldn’t get enough of. The SkyWheel is located in the Clifton Hill neighborhood on the Canadian side and it was the highlight of our trip. Clifton Hill, known as the “Street of Fun,” is a bustling promenade filled with arcades, mini-golf courses, and quirky attractions. Our days and evenings were spent exploring the vibrant lights and lively atmosphere. Make sure to buy the Clifton Hill Fun Pass to save money! The Fun Pass saves you money on 6 attractions, always a win in my book!
Skylon Tower:
Skylon Tower Observation Deck has to be it. A trip to the top of this legendary attraction combines an exhilarating 52-second ride with the awe of seeing Niagara from 775 feet above the mighty Falls. The best time to go is at night and I promise you will be in awe of the amazing views! Tip* If you’re going during a time that the Falls has fireworks, try and schedule it at the same time that you will be at the top. It was breathtaking to see!
Culinary Delights: Niagara Falls boasts a diverse culinary scene. From classic Canadian poutine to gourmet dining with a view, our taste buds were treated to a delightful array of flavors. Be sure to try the local delicacies and indulge in a sweet treat from the charming Hershey’s Chocolate World. We visited a great restaurant on the American side on Niagara Falls Blvd. called La Galera, if you like Mexican food I would visit. It’s only a few minutes away from the Falls. If Indian Food is your thing then visit Punjabi Hut which is within walking distance of Niagara Falls. It’s a hole in the wall but the food was delish!
Capturing the Moments: As a family travel content creator, documenting our adventures is an integral part of the journey. From candid shots of the kids marveling at the falls to scenic vistas, every snapshot tells a story. Creating a travel vlog allowed us to share the magic of Niagara Falls with our audience, inspiring them to embark on their own family adventures.
Conclusion: Niagara Falls is more than a destination; it’s an immersive experience that brings families closer together. Our journey to this natural wonder was filled with laughter, awe, and the joy of discovery. As a family travel content creator, Niagara Falls provided the perfect backdrop for creating memories that will be cherished in our family’s travel storybook forever. If you’re looking for a destination that combines natural beauty with family-friendly fun, Niagara Falls is an absolute must-visit.
